Canoe Kayak on Lake Aoos! A beautiful route in the calm waters of the lake.
The artificial lake of Aoos was created with the construction of the hydroelectric dam in 1987. It is located at the foot of Montenegro at an altitude of 1350 meters. Over time it has evolved into an important ecosystem with rich flora and fauna. It is a peaceful, alpine landscape as in winter the blue waters sink into the white of the snowy landscape and in summer they drown in the green of the dense riparian forest! The forest roads around the lake are passable and accessible for those who want to explore this wonderful landscape.
The Canoe Kayak route to Lake Aoos, explores the eastern part of the lake. We approach its shores to see the alpine cows up close and to admire the impressive black pinus nigra pines that descend from the slopes of the Valia Calda National Park. About halfway we make a stop on a beautiful island for a traditional treat, rest and a swim! Then we return to the starting point. There is a possibility for complete crossing of the lake by arrangement.
