Activity Description

A unique hike on the alpine lake of the imposing mountain range of Tymfi.

We start from the village of Mikro Papigo on an uphill path, with the first part of the route unfolding among oaks, anchovies, maples, skulls, lentils, cedars and shrubs. The route continues uphill and, as we move away from the forest, the impressive vertical limestone rocks become known as "Towers of Astraka". Then we reach the mountain refuge of Astraka at an altitude of 1,950 meters where the view of the mountain range of Tymfi is unique. The mountain range consists of high peaks and deep valleys, with a very rare and very impressive geomorphology.

Then we descend to a purely alpine type environment, cross a large green valley and ascend to 2,050 meters where Drakolimni is located, an alpine lake of unique beauty. Its depth reaches 9 meters while in its waters live impressive amphibian alpine newts, which the locals used to call "dragons".

From the north side of the lake we have an excellent view to the mountain range of Smolikas and the valley of the river Aoos, while from the east we have a wonderful view to the northwest side of Gamila.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation 7 days or more prior to the agreed activity starting date. You are automatically reimbursed for the full activity price.
Cancellation between 3 and 7 days prior to the agreed activity starting date. You are entitled to a 50% reimbursement.
Cancellation 3 days or later are what we call last-minute cancellations. No reimbursements will be effected.

* If the activity is canceled by the cooperating company (due to weather, non-completion of minimum entries, force majeure, etc.), the price of your activity, is refunded in full.
